Labrador West Homelessness & Housing Coalition opens new shelter in Labrador City

LABRADOR CITY - The Labrador West Housing & Homelessness Coalition is pleased to announce the opening of the Labrador West Emergency Shelter. The three-bed shelter opened its doors on January 24, 2022. The shelter is available to male, female and LGBTQA individuals ages 16 years and over.


The project is currently funded for one year through Reaching Home Rural and Remote Funding Stream with hopes of future funding to for sustainability. The shelter is intended for short-term stay, while staff work with those staying there to find permanent housing.


Individuals needing shelter can contact the Labrador West Housing and Homelessness Coalition at (709) 288-0392 between 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday to Friday, and 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.


Individuals needing assistance after 8:00 pm on weekdays and 6:00 pm on weekends may contact the Emergency Housing line at 1-833-724-2444.


Please note: This is a dry shelter. No drugs or alcohol are allowed on the premises.
